Dr. Ganter (Deb) is a West Texas native. She received a B.S. in Geology from Texas Tech University. In 1990, she graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine and moved to Colorado where she began her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Health Science Center.
She finished her residency in 1994 and began private practice in Denver. In 1997, she joined Associates in Women's Health.
She has held many offices in the medical community. She is a previous Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center. She also was the President of the Colorado Gynecological and Obstetrical Society from 2003-2004. Most recently she served as Vice Chairman and Chairman for the Colorado Section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2003-2009. She remains active on administrative committees at Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Ganter is board certified and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Deb loves living in Colorado. She enjoys everything outdoors: skiing, snowboarding, biking, hiking, and gardening. "Practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in such a wonderful surrounding is truly a privilege."
Dr. Ellis (Sarah) is a Colorado native. She was born in Boulder and attended CU Boulder where she received a degree in Mathematics. She received her medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Dr. Ellis is board certified and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Sarah joined Associates of Women’s Health in 2001 and her practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology focuses on disease prevention and health maintenance. She is trained in minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopy, laparoscopic hysterectomy utilizing the DaVinci robot, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation.
When she is not practicing medicine, Sarah spends time with her two sons. They enjoy travel, skiing, biking and taking advantage of the beautiful Colorado outdoors.
Dr. Schoen (Heather) grew up in Dallas, TX and received her B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University. She received her M.D. from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Schoen is board certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has been a part of Associates in Women's Health since January of 2003 and enjoys caring for the obstetric, gynecologic, surgical and infertility needs of her patients. She has a particular interest in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopic hysterectomies utilizing the DaVinci robot, incontinence procedures, hysteroscopies and endometrial ablation.
Heather has lived in Colorado with her 2 children, Kaia and Hayden, since 2000 and loves being here. When not working, she enjoys travelling, reading, running, biking, hiking, skiing—you name it. She really values the relationship she has with her patients. "I want my patients to feel comfortable, relaxed and confident that they are receiving thorough, compassionate, and up-to-date care."
Dr. Python (Johanne) grew up just outside of Chicago, Illinois and received a B.S. with high distinction in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia. She then received her medical degree at the University of Colorado, where she also completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Python is board certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is trained in minimally invasive surgeries, focusing on advanced in-office procedures such as hysteroscopy and LEEP (loop electrode excisional procedure). As a physician, she is particularly interested in contraception and preventative health and believes that a strong physician is one who is compassionate and can communicate openly with her patients. She is excited to be of service to any woman needing the services of an Ob/Gyn!
Johanne feels incredibly lucky to have done all of her training in Colorado and loves to take full advantage of everything this beautiful state has to offer. When she’s not in the office, you’ll probably find her skiing, running, hiking or camping with her husband in the great Colorado outdoors. Around town, she loves the vibrant live music scene and enjoys exploring new culinary horizons at the many local restaurants in Denver.
Dr. Henkel (Elyse) is a south Florida native. She graduated cum laude and with Honors from Florida State University, receiving a B.S. in Biological Sciences with minors in Chemistry and Spanish. She studied medicine at Florida State University College of Medicine and continued on to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN for her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
As a recent graduate, Elyse is very excited to begin building her Ob/Gyn practice in the beautiful state of Colorado. She is trained in minimally invasive surgery and certified for Da Vinci robotics. She is passionate about evidence-based medicine and loves empowering her patients through health education. She is eager to begin building quality patient relationships and excited to assist women with all of their health needs.
In her free time, Elyse loves to explore the outdoors with her fiancé and their dog. Being Florida natives, they have always dreamt of moving to the mountains. As avid snowboarders, hikers, and campers, they are very excited to enjoy all of what beautiful Colorado has to offer.
Alyssa is originally from Austin, Texas, but has called Colorado home since 2016. She received a B.S. in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and then went on to graduate cum laude with a B.S. in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Alyssa spent the majority of her nursing career as an ER nurse prior to completing a Master of Science in Nursing. Alyssa chose to be a Family Nurse Practitioner because it allows her to integrate her nursing priorities of compassion and empathy with impactful medical expertise. She takes a holistic approach to diagnostics and treatment and believes in partnering with patients to achieve their health goals.
When not in the office, Alyssa enjoys hiking, camping, skiing, and spending time with her husband and two dogs. She also enjoys reading, yoga, home renovations, and cooking. Alyssa joined AWH in August 2022 after working in Family Medicine and is thrilled to get to focus her time and efforts on Women’s Health.
Traci is originaly from Austin, Texas and started her career women's health as a labor and delivery nurse. She subsequently earned her Nurse Practitioner degree and enjoys caring for women through all aspects of life.
In her free time you will find her traveling the world or in the mountains with her husband and two golden retrievers.
Kelly has been a Healthcare Administrator working in physical therapy, pain management and neurology for the past 13 years. She continues to challenge herself to stay current on the ever changing field of healthcare and encouraging staff to exceed the expectations of our patients by providing compassionate care and exceptional customer service. She welcomes the challenges while appreciating the rewards of leading a medical team. She is a Colorado native, enjoys spending her downtime relaxing by the water and being with her family.
"I grew up at the beaches on the East Coast until recently when I decided to trade in that view for the stunning Colorado mountains! I have been a Medical Assistant for 7 years, in multiple specialties. I absolutely love being in the medical field and being able to make a difference in my patients lives. In my spare time I enjoy being outside; hiking, swimming and swinging in my hammock. I have a passion for travel and learning new cultures. I am so excited to explore all Colorado has to offer!"
Mika is a Colorado native that has worked in the medical field for over 20 years. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children. They love to traveling, sporting events, camping, hiking and the beautiful Rocky Mountains!
